Discover the megalithic culture

Alentejo is one of the richest regions in pre-historical monuments in whole Europe. Our intention is to promote the megalithic monuments of the region themselves and also its marvellous landscape, its culture and its people.

There are hundreds of pre-historical sites in the region. However, we focus our itineraries on three major monuments within their respective categories: a megalithic enclosure (Cromlech of Almendres), a burial mound (the big Dolmen of Zambujeiro) and a standing stone (Menhir of Almendres).

In certain dates of the year, people organize megalithic walks to watch the sunrise and also the moonrise at the Chromlech of Almendres, a stone circle that has its astronomical significance!

Cork oaks and olive groves

Cork oaks (Quercus suber) and olive trees belong to the endemic species existing in the natural landscape in the Alentejo. These trees produce two of the most significant goods that Portugal exports: cork and olive oil.

We help you on your wish to explore these interesting landscapes, far from the industrialized world and any sort of noise pollution, where you'll have the opportunity to see in loco how natural cork looks like and where olive oil comes from.
